Ok... here's the skinny.Beef Jerky for less than $1/oz shipped. That's a good price. That's actually the best price I could find online for any (real) beef jerky. The flavor is a touch sweet for habanero. My father who loves habanero even more than I do couldn't put his finger on it. "Teriyaki and Jalapeno" he guessed. I tasted some distinct habanero flavor, but then again I knew what I was eating, so I'd trust his read on it more. He did rub his eyes afterwards and comment that it was indeed very hot stuff. Funny because earlier when I first tried it, I was thinking of how to describe the amount of heat; and two idea's came to mind. First it made my chapped lips burn, and second I knew I should be careful not to rub my eyes after eating. That said, I eat some hot stuff. I put Carolina Reapers in a food processor and toss wings in the puree. So, no, this stuff wasn't especially hot to my tongue... but it was hot. I'm sure plenty of people I'd offer to to would be upset and declare it too hot to enjoy. I'd say it's about as hot as your average pickled Jalapeno. Nice heat, bordering on a little burn... but not anywhere near what you'd expect reading Habanero. That said, it's the second hottest beef jerky I've had (of several dozen), and the only one that beat it was a pretty characterless concoction of low quality beef, capsacin extract and soy sauce (that cost almost $6/oz)... so it's definitely my favorite "spicy" beef jerky. The meat is decent quality. It's not going to make you go "wow, this is some choice cut meat!" but it's nice solid strips, cut very thin, with a good tooth and chew to it. It's not the dog food, prechewed stuff a lot of low price jerky brands use. And keeping in mind the cost, I really doubt you'll find a better jerky anywhere. That said, it fully deserves five stars. Also the shipping took less than 48 hrs from when I ordered it (std shipping) to when I was eating my jerky.
