One side of this beadspread is sort of velour-looking/feeling. The other side is like regular fabric. The non-velour side is a prettier, slightly darker color in my opinion, so I have that side up on my bed. The regular pillow shams are still velour-ish, but they look fine atop the bedspread. I haven't used the two square shams yet, but that's a nice extra with this set.
