The Figma Link: Twilight Princess ver. was released May of 2017. I’m not sure what his MSRP was but I purchased him for $44.23. The figure looks fantastic with a very good paint job. It has a nice solid feel with no loose joints and I like the soft plastic feel. Figma pretty much nails the look of Link from Twilight Princess so I have no complaints there. The first articulation I always go to is the shoulders because more often than not that is where the problem will be. Figma uses a joint that allows the shoulder to be pulled out a bit to permit further movement above and beyond a regular joint, allowing Link to reach across his body. The downside is it creates a massive gap in the back of his shoulder so you have to pose him in a way so that the gap doesn’t show. One issue I have is that when you raise Link’s arm all the guts of his joint are exposed. I feel like they could have hidden it better with a little effort. One really neat thing is that Link is able to reach back behind his head to pull his sword from its sheath. That range of shoulder articulation is uncommon. His knee articulation is well beyond 90 degrees. His foot articulation is pretty good with some ankle rocker movement and up and down movement as well as toe articulation. Not the best but acceptable. He has some pretty neat leg rotation at the hip. It may be the best I’ve ever seen. The elbow joint it just a touch beyond 90 degree and includes elbow rotation which is nice. I prefer bicep rotation since it’s closer to reality but in the end it’s not that big a deal. He can rotate 360 degrees at the waist which is obviously not anatomically correct but I’d rather have too much rotation than too little. The BIG problem is the ball joint in the elbow is a stark white rather than the gray of his shirt. I never noticed it in the product pics but when you look carefully you can see it. When you actually have the figure it’s painfully obvious. Terrible decision. You have to be very carefully when you look at product pictures because they can be very deceiving. In several pictures Link is shown to be in a running pose or with his legs a decent distance apart. Figma either stretched Link’s skirt to the max or cut it. His skirt is rubber with very little give. He can spread his legs maybe 30 degrees before putting real strain on the rubber. He can barely lift his knee so he can’t assume his classic pose where he is jumping with one knee raised up. If you’re a photographer you really don’t care about what happens to the figure so just stretch the hell out of Link’s skirt but most people who shell out good money for the figure don’t want to ruin it while posing it.Figma might have used a material for Link’s skirt that will allow for more give. There is also an issue that I see in a ton of Figma figures which is teeny hands. I’m not sure why Japanese sculptors make such small hands. The most inexplicable issue is the white joints in the elbows and if you buy this figure you’ll remember my review. Figma was able to match up the color for the knee joint so why not the elbow joint. It is an absolute eye magnet. Regardless of my few complaints this one is an absolute winner. It’s got some great extras including Link’s Master Sword which was actually a little bit of a pain to get into his hand. I don’t regret my purchase one bit and recommend it for any fan of the Legend of Zelda games.
