We bought a heavy duty fire pit years ago after we got tired of them burning up or rusting through. So we splurged and got something that would last. After trying many, many, many fire pit lids, I think this one may have a similar quality to our pit. It is the heaviest and thickest we have owned. Being stainless it should help resist the rust. Let's face it, you're setting these things on fire when used, so I don't think it will last forever. But I bet it gives us a good 5 or 6 years. Better than the typical 1 - 2 years we usually get.
