This twofer captures the end of one era for Eydie, and the beginning of another, as 1970 s Tonight I ll Say a Prayer was the last album she recorded for RCA, and 1971 s It Was a Good Time was the first she recorded for MGM! Tonight pairs Eydie with her favorite arranger, Don Costa, for a smartly chosen set of songs by Jimmy Webb, Paul Williams and Roger Nichols, Burt Bacharach and Hal David and Charles Aznavour among others. Good Time, meanwhile, is exactly that: Eydie interprets more contemporary fare like Bread s if, Carole King and Gerry Goffin s Goin Back, and James Taylor s Fire and Rain with great skill and sensitivity, and Mr. Costa once again arranges. Two gorgeous pop albums from the late, great Eydie Gorme.
tonight ill say a prayer album is my favorite album by Eydie Gorme. she has a beautiful voice and really displays it in my two favorite songs of the album, tonight i'll say a prayer and it takes a fool like me. Very saddened by her death. considering there are not very many good female singers out there anymore
